Committee membership – call for nominations, 2025

Tireless local champion and Crouch End enthusiast?

Do you think you can get involved? If you’re interested in local planning and development, urbanism, in heritage, housing, the environment, town centre or local infrastructure, there are 15 places on the 2025 Executive Committee – who are working together toward an improved Crouch End and a Neighbourhood Plan.

Nominations are open for the 2025 Executive Committee, to be elected at the AGM. All members of the Forum, including business members, and representatives of affiliated organisations are eligible to stand. It would be helpful if anyone wishing to stand informed us of their intention before March 24th. Self-nominations are sufficient.

The CENF AGM will be held on Saturday March 29th at 3pm, venue Union Church, Weston Park.  Do register for tickets.

If interested please send a brief paragraph to introduce yourself and indicate why you’d like to get involved – feel free to message us for any clarification. The list of nominations will be circulated in advance.

We’re very keen to hear from anyone with skills in planning and development, urbanism, conservation, event management, website/social media, etc. and we would like to widen the interest and knowledge of the committee too, particularly to include younger people, and under-represented groups. But hey – straightforward enthusiasm may be enough!

Of course a seat on the Committee is not the only way to be involved. Please do tell us if you have a particular interest in any of Crouch End’s issues – or simply have some time to help us with our media, our consultations, or discussions.

Contact us through the website, or directly to hello@crouchendforum.org.uk – we’re happy to meet for a chat.

    Hello,

I hope you’re well. I believe I fall into the category of “younger people” and I’m genuinely interested in local life and how things work in our community.

I attended a forum meeting last year, which I appreciated – but, to be honest, that was the only time I’ve heard much about the forum until the recent announcement about the upcoming meeting. I hope you don’t mind me saying this, but I’ve found it a bit difficult to understand what the forum has been doing since then.

I had a look at the website, but many of the links seem to point to older materials (for example, a meeting from 2016). I was wondering if there’s somewhere I could find more up-to-date information – such as current projects, recent meeting minutes, or outcomes – to get a clearer picture of what the forum is working on now.

I’m asking not just out of curiosity, but also because I may be interested in getting more involved, depending on what’s happening and how things work.

Thanks very much in advance, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi – the more recent reports appear as posts under the ‘thoughts’ tab. This includes the policy work for the Neighbourhood Plan which we hope to take further at the forthcoming AGM.

        Thank you.

Looking back at the agendas of previous meetings (for example: https://www.crouchendforum.org.uk/events/agm-march-31st-2019/), I noticed that the discussion points seem quite similar, such as:
        * ideas for the Crouch End Neighbourhood Plan
        * how to allocate the Community Infrastructure Levy fund

I was wondering – are we discussing the same plan and the same funds this week, or is this a new iteration? If it’s the next phase, could you please point me to where one can view the previous version of the Plan, as well as the projects that were funded?

If it’s indeed the same topics being revisited, it feels a bit like the forum might be going in circles without a clear resolution. I’d really appreciate your thoughts or clarification on this.

Yes, it is a challenge. The local people giving up their time to the project should be congratulated for their tenacity.

Thanks for your response. Just to clarify – I’m not questioning anyone’s tenacity or commitment. I admire the work the committee does. I’m simply trying to understand what’s involved and whether it’s something I’m ready and able to contribute to meaningfully at this point.

Ulad, I’ve had related questions about priorities, progress being made, timescales etc. I’ve decided to apply for the executive committee to see if I can assist the Forum in these arenas. It sounds like you may be able to help as well.
