Special Showing/ Q&A “Beneath the Clocktower” Arthouse 3rd Nov 3pm

The news that high street giant Debenhams is closing fifty stores is a stark reminder of the pressures that our high streets are under.
There can be no more appropriate time to get along to the Art House Cinema for a screening of Beneath the Clock Tower on Saturday 3rd November at 3.00pm.
This film, by Harvey Marcus, looks at some of the independent shops that are so crucial to the success of Crouch End but now find themselves besieged by the threats of changing shopping patterns, the internet, soaring rents and business rates and home delivery.

But, this is a screening with a difference. Straight after the showing of this excellent film, there will be a discussion hosted by the Crouch End Neighbourhood Forum about the future of Crouch End Town Centre.

This will be an opportunity for you to say what you like about the current range of shopping facilities and nightlife, the challenges the centre is facing and how you would like to see it develop over the coming decade.

To help inform the session, Mark Afford (chair of the Forum) will present an overview of how Crouch End functions as a town centre; Lewis Freeman of Dunns and Chris Currer of Crouch End Festival will be on hand to chip-in and answer questions.

Tickets for the showing are sure to be snapped up quickly so do visit http://www.arthousecrouchend.co.uk/programme/?programme_id=4776649 to book yours.

The Forum will be distributing a questionnaire on 3 November but, if you can’t get along to the showing, it will be made available later.

Many thanks to Sam of the Art House for suggesting and supporting this even
