One small step for neighbourhood planning, one giant leap for CENF!

Our applications are in!
Almost one year to the day after we first discussed the idea of creating a neighbourhood plan for Crouch End, we submitted our applications to be designated as a neighbourhood forum and set the boundary of our neighbourhood area to Haringey Council.

This might sound like a very long time for the first small step on the neighbourhood planning journey, but we wanted to make sure we were getting it right and involving as many people as possible throughout, especially when it came to setting the Crouch End area boundary. So we’ve spoken to over 1000 people, mostly on our stall at the Crouch End Festival; held a public workshop attended by 40 people; and had hundreds of people respond to our online surveys about Crouch End.

A very BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has participated so far!

This is the map which defines Crouch End. Click on it, or here, to be taken to the full text of the application. Click here for a larger map, and here for a description of how the boundary was determined
What next?
Haringey Council should decide whether to approve our applications at the December Cabinet meeting. We’ll let you know the outcome as soon as we know. The next stage is to start writing the neighbourhood plan. From what people have told us already, we’ve got an idea about the sort of themes you want to cover. We’ll be talking to as many people as possible in the coming months to gather your feedback and ideas for how Crouch End should preserve it’s best bits and develop over time. If you want to get involved, email us at[email protected]
Immediate actions
One of the biggest challenges on the horizon is the future of Hornsey Town Hall. We’re supporting the Hornsey Town Hall Appreciation Society campaign for community ownership of the town hall and green, not have these wonderful assets sold off to a private developer. Please do sign the petition and join thefacebook group to find out more.Let us know of other planning issues we should monitor now.
We’re always on the lookout for other people who want to get involved with writing the neighbourhood plan. We meet monthly so do get in touch if you want to come along.
