The Boundary Commission are back: final consultation on a new parliamentary constituency
You may recall the first proposals for the new 2023 English parliamentary boundaries back in June 2021 – we blogged about it here – well, it’s all change (once again) and the Boundary Commission have published their second attempt at setting the boundaries.
This time we get a little more resemblance to ‘Hornsey’, but without the Wood Green part, and with, oddly, Friern Barnet – and the new name ‘Hornsey and Friern Barnet’. Also, we’ve lost Highgate ward (the Lib Dems won’t be happy) and gained Harringay ward. Still, it’s much better than the neighbouring proposed ‘Southgate and Wood Green’ PC which joins a deep Labour area with a true blue Conservative one. We can’t see that one making the cut.
Comments on the Hornsey proposal? Well, wouldn’t it be a lot simpler if they returned Highgate ward to ‘Hornsey’, sent Friern Barnet ward to ‘Finchley’, and Child’s Hill ward to ‘Hampstead’? You have until December 5th to respond, see the Boundary Commission 2023 Review website. Please note this is parliamentary boundaries not council…
